Reporting To: VP, Public Relations
Total Weight Loss Seminars is actively seeking an In-House
Public Relations Manager reporting to the VP, Public Relations.
The PR Manager will develop, communicate, and implement strategic
media and public relations programs for SWLS brands in order to
strengthen SWLS’s position as the leading health and wellness
consulting company.
- Responsible for the overall public relations campaigns
- Draft/distribute press releases related to outreach campaign
- Media outreach. Extensive pitching to Press/Analyst communities
(e-mail, phone contact with reporters regarding events or stories).
- Manage pre-coverage, on-site, follow-up interviews between
brand executives and press/analysts
- Manage agency outreach to media
- Manage media registration (media outreach, invite, accreditation)
with Media Services Manager
- Track publications for articles, trends, etc.
- Field calls from media and attendees related to the event
- Review all external materials related to event (media companion,
exhibitor guide to publicity, exhibitor alerts, event marketing
opportunities, deliverables on sponsorships)
- Manage onsite media working room/ keynote program/special events
at event
- Create and distribute clip report after event
- Create and distribute wrap-up report on the event
- Participate in Post-Conference meeting with team highlighting
what worked and didn’t work at event
- Meet with brand president(s)/executives regarding PR needs
- Advise PR managers on media, brand and exhibitor issues
- Review external documents (Press Releases, media alerts, general
correspondence)
- Provide insight to PR executive team on brand initiatives
- Additional responsibilities may be assumed as needed
Requirements:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications
and media relations; Agency experience preferred.
- Strong pitch experience, and solid experience promoting PR initiatives;
- Proven success establishing a network of journalists/media contacts.
- The position requires a self-motivated individual who is able
to manage numerous projects at one time.
- Broad-based media relations skills and experience are necessary,
including working with national, international and local media,
and product launches.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills are critical.
- The ability to work very well in diverse teams and exhibit leadership
qualities are essential.
- Position requires travel
Education:
- Bachelor degree in PR, journalism, or communications
